Ram Charan is an Indian film actor and entrepreneur, known for his works primarily in Telugu cinema. He won two Andhra Pradeshstate Nandi Awards, two Filmfare Awards South, two CineMAA Awards, and one Santosham Best Actor Award. In 2011 he was awarded Youth Icon Award by North American Telugu Society (NATS).[3] In addition to the films, he also endoresed brands like Pepsiand Airtel for some period.[4][5] Currently he is the brand ambassador for Tata DoCoMo for Andhra Pradesh region.[6] He owns a Polo Team 'Ram Charan Hyderabad Polo Riding Club (RC HPRC)'.[7] He also serves on the board of directors of MAA TV.[8] He is also an entrepreneur, and an equestrian.[9] In December 2013, Ram Charan was ranked #69 in 2013 India's Forbes list with an earnings of ₹ 12.67 crore.[10] Ram Charan ranked fifth in the survey conducted by Star India for the top sexiest actors.[11]

Ram Charan is the son of Chiranjeevi, grandson to Allu Rama Lingaiah, nephew to Nagendra Babu, Pawan Kalyan, Renu Desai, andAllu Aravind and cousin to Allu Arjun, Allu Sirish, Varun Tej and Sai Dharam Tej.
Charan got engaged to Upasana Kamineni, the vice-chairman of Apollo Charity and chief editor of B Positive magazine, in Hyderabad on 1 December 2011. Upasana is the granddaughter of Prathap C. Reddy, the Executive Chairman of the Apollo Hospitals.[12]Subsequently, they got married on 14 June 2012 at the Temple Trees Farm House.[13]

In 2007, Ram Charan made his film debut as the leading man in the film Chirutha which collected ₹30 crore (US$4.9 million)(share) in 50 Days and declared as a Blockbuster worldwide.Chirutha, which was directed by Puri Jagannadh, completed 50 Days in 178 direct centres and 15 other shifted centres. The film completed 100 Days in 40 direct centres. He played the role of Charan, an ex-convict who is hellbent on killing the murderer of his father. His performance was widely appriciated . Idlebrain.com wrote "Ram Charan Teja is simply superb. His debut is undoubtedly one of the best debuts in Telugu film industry. He has got everything right in his first film and with proper career planning only sky is the limit. To sum up in one line, Ram Charan Teja has every quality to become the future mega star."[14] Rediff.com too praised his performance stating "Ram Charan is quite promising. Dance and action appears to be forte. He is rather graceful in the dance numbers. He also stays clear of any oblique reference to his star father by way of dialogue or adopting any particular mannerism or style."[15] His performance in the film earned him a Filmfare Best South Debutant Award andNandi Special Jury Award.[16]
